Cariboo Gate Foundation is now a registered Canadian charity, based in Kamloops. We started because people here wanted to help Bweyale Vocational Education and had no good way to give, with a tax receipt, to a school in Uganda.
What it means for you
Gifts to us receive an official donation receipt, and gifts of tools and equipment can be receipted at fair market value. Our books, bylaws and filings are available to anyone who asks, and our annual T3010 return is public.
How we work with BVE
As a Canadian charity working through a partner abroad, we follow the Canada Revenue Agency's guidance: a written agreement with the school, staged payments, regular reporting, and records kept in Canada. Much of the work is done by us directly. We buy tools ourselves and send our own volunteer experts.
