BVE finished the community well in February 2024, within two weeks and despite unforeseen ground conditions. Clean water now comes from a well a short walk from where families live and where students train.
Why it mattered
Before the well, many families walked 90 minutes round trip for water, often from sources that made children sick. Collecting it took hours that students could have spent in class or in the workshops.

Built, and looked after
A committee of local residents now looks after the pump, collects a small monthly contribution for spare parts, and keeps a log of repairs. Training the committee was part of the project from the start, so the well keeps working after we are gone.
